9th Scottish SAS Conference, 6th March 2026 - registration open now

The SAS Development Programme team can announce that the next Scottish National SAS Conference, taking place online via MS Teams on Friday 6th March 2026, 13:30-17:00, is now open for registration.

This free-to-attend event is to provide SAS-grade doctors and dentists in Scotland with learning tailored to their professional context, and to champion achievements and opportunities for SAS grades across the country.

A full list of sessions and topics will follow soon, but will include:

  • Intelligent Kindness - Tommy Whitelaw
  • How to progress to the Specialist grade - new processes for Scotland (details are awaited)
  • 'The Story of a Heart - One Heart, Two Children and Everything They’ve Taught Me About Medicine’ - Dr Rachel Clarke, physician and author.
  • Using the SAS Development Fund

Registration is open to Specialist, Associate Specialist and Specialty grade doctors and dentists working in NHS Scotland and associated hospices. Click here to register your place for the conference.

We are also inviting SAS to submit abstracts for posters on work they have led on, to be displayed at the conference. Posters accepted for the conference will be displayed virtually, both on the day and via our website; there will also be an opportunity for selected presenters to share a brief summary of their work on the day.

This entry-level course has been designed NES to help individuals develop personal and professional skills which will contribute to their effectiveness as a clinician.

SAS GMC Caring for Workforce Under Pressure online workshop

This new workshop delivered by the GMC considers workforce well-being and how individuals have the potential to make a positive difference. The session covers both individual and team wellbeing and how to improve the normal working day, whilst acknowledging the importance of systems issues.

SAS Communicatons Challenges Workshop (in-person Edinburgh)

This interactive clinical workshop will equip participants with the skills and confidence to have better conversations in challenging circumstances.

This workshop is specifically for SAS doctors and dentists working in Scotland. SAS GMC-Led Specialist Registration workshop (online via MS Teams)

The GMC Specialist Applications Team joins us to deliver this presentation on the application process which will have a Q&A section afterwards.

'What can Simulation do for you?' Wed 11th February 2027 (13:00 – 17:00)

The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (RCPE) has pulled together a host of internationally renowned speakers for the half day online event. Aimed at anyone involved in health and social care it will explore how simulation can be used as far more than an educational tool and can transform everyday practice.
