SAS Training Calendar

8th Scottish SAS Conference, 21st March 2025 (online) - registration open

The SAS Development Programme's 8th Scottish SAS National Conference will take place via MS Teams on Friday 21st March 2025, 13:45-17:00. This half-day online event will feature a variety of expert speakers giving presentations on topics selected specifically for those in the SAS grades. It is free to attend, and certificates of attendance will be issued to delegates with 3 NES-recommended CPD points.

While exact programme titles and timings are still being finalised, topics and speakers for the conference will include:

Sleep & Wellbeing – Dr Mike Farquhar, Consultant, Paediatric Sleep Medicine, Evelina London Children's Hospital
Realistic Medicine – Dr Catherine Labinjoh, Realistic Medicine National Clinical Adviser, NHS Scotland
BMA update on SAS issues and preparing for the Specialist grade – Scott Anderson, Head of Member Relations, BMA Scotland

Leadership and Management (LaMP) workshop	Fri 7th March 2025, 09:15-16:30 (in-person, Larbert)	This entry-level course has been designed NES to help individuals develop personal and professional skills which will contribute to their effectiveness as a clinician. GMC Professionalism for SAS Doctors and Dentists online workshop	Thurs 13th & Fri 14th February 2025, 09:15-12:15 each day (online) - fully booked	This interactive workshop examines the key principles from GMP in relation to leadership & management, raising and acting on concerns about patient safety and the impact that professional behaviour has on patient safety, staff morale and working environments. SAS Communications Challenges course (Edinburgh)	Thurs 13th February 2025, 09:30-16:30 - fully booked	This interactive workshop aims to equip participants with the skills and confidence to have better conversations in challenging circumstances. GMC Decision Making, Consent and Good Medical Practice online workshop	Thurs 13th March 2025, 09:30-12:00 (online) - fully booked	GMC Liaison Advisers will guide participants on the latest changes to GMP, and support participants to discuss and develop practical approaches to implementing the guidance and improving the culture in their own workplaces, with a particular focus on patient decision making and consent. Health Board local SAS events

The SAS Development Programme support a number of local events for education and networking, specifically for SAS within their regional health boards. Information will be provided through your regional Education Adviser. Currently scheduled local events are listed below.
