Education organisers

As Education Organisers (EOs), the five Scottish medical schools and the NES-managed Scotland Deanery are required tomaintain up-to-date lists of all trainers performing some educational roles and to ensure that these trainers meet the GMC's"Standards for Trainers" as set out in Promoting excellence.

The EOs have adopted a 'once-for-Scotland' approach, which means that all Undergraduate and secondary-care trainers inScotland will be assessed against the same criteria, irrespective of where they are, or the number of roles held, making theprocess simpler for those who hold more than one role. The process of recognition will synchronise with clinical revalidation,or on a five-yearly cycle.

Arrangements for approval of GP trainers are already well-established and these will not change.
