As a doctor in training, NES is your responsible body and Professor Emma Watson, Executive Medical Director, your Responsible Officer (RO).
Revalidation came into effect on 3rd December 2012 and is a mandatory requirement for all F2 doctors to make an annual declaration. This will be completed at the same time as the ARCP process. The Lead Deans and Directors (LDDs) have delegated responsibility as ROs for each specialty grouping. Professor Clare McKenzie is the LDD for Foundation.
You will receive correspondence from NES in due course regarding revalidation and the evidence you have to provide to prove your fitness to practice. You should also by now have a GMC online account activated during the last National Trainee Survey in order to be eligible to revalidate when it is your time to do so. If you do not, it is your responsibility to obtain one.
To make your declaration as part of the process, a Scotland-wide IT package has been mandated called SOAR (Scottish Online Appraisal Resource). A username and password will be sent for this in due course. Please ensure that you make your declaration on an annual basis as without this you will not gain a satisfactory ARCP Outcome and will not be able to revalidate at the relevant time.
Note : Enhanced form R is NOT a requirement for the Scottish Foundation School. Scotland has a separate system.
