ARCP requirements for OOP trainees

OOPR (Research) 

You will receive an outcome 8.

1. Please ensure that your personal details held on TURAS are up to date.

2. Please complete the OOP form [DOCX]. (Even if the details have not changed, there is a requirement to resubmit this form signed by yourself and your TPD at each ARCP.  Please note, there is not a requirement to complete a form R as stated in section c of this form as this will be covered by your SOAR declaration.)

3.  Please complete your SOAR Declaration: you are responsible for your self-declaration via the SOAR website and must ensure that your Educational Supervisor has signed off the declaration prior to submission for ARCP. The self-declaration is essential evidence which must cover your full scope of practice. The Deanery team will initiate your SOAR declaration approximately 8 weeks prior to your ARCP. You will be notified by SOAR when it is available to complete.

4.Please submit a research supervisor’s report, indicating that appropriate progress in research is being made.  NB: The only research supervisor report templates that will be considered by the ARCP panel as acceptable and meeting the evidence requirements of an outcome 8 are:

1) the Academic Supervisor’s Report, which can be generated via ePortfolio (where possible) or
2) the Gold Guide – 10th Edition report template ‘Report on academic / research progress’ Gold Guide - 10th Edition - Conference Of Postgraduate Medical Deans (copmed.org.uk), which if used should be clearly saved in your ePortfolio library.

*If there is prospective approval by the GMC for the OOPR to contribute to the CCT or CESR(CP)/CEGPR(CP), then formal assessment documentation must be submitted annually for the ARCP.*

 

OOPE (Clinical Experience)

You will receive an outcome 8.

1. Please ensure that your personal details held on TURAS are up to date.

2. Please complete and submit the OOP form [DOCX]. (Even if the details have not changed, there is a requirement to resubmit this form signed by yourself and your TPD at each ARCP, which includes your indicative intended date of return.  Please note, there is not a requirement to complete a form R as stated in section c of this form as this will be covered by your SOAR declaration.)

3.  Please complete your SOAR Declaration: you are responsible for your self-declaration via the SOAR website and must ensure that your Educational Supervisor has signed off the declaration prior to submission for ARCP. The self-declaration is essential evidence which must cover your full scope of practice. The Deanery team will initiate your SOAR declaration approximately 8 weeks prior to your ARCP. You will be notified by SOAR when it is available to complete.

4.  A report from your supervisor detailing your progress and experience/outcome’s achieved as part of your OOPE. OOPE Supervisor Report

 

 

OOPC (Career Break)

You will receive an outcome 8.

1. Please ensure that your personal details held on TURAS are up to date.

2. Please complete and submit the OOP form [PDF]. (Even if the details have not changed, there is a requirement to resubmit this form signed by yourself and your TPD at each ARCP, confirming that you are still on a career break and confirming your indicative intended date of return.  Please note, there is not a requirement to complete a form R as stated in section c of this form as this will be covered by your SOAR declaration.)

3.  Please complete your SOAR Declaration: you are responsible for your self-declaration via the SOAR website and must ensure that your Educational Supervisor has signed off the declaration prior to submission for ARCP. The self-declaration is essential evidence which must cover your full scope of practice. The Deanery team will initiate your SOAR declaration approximately 8 weeks prior to your ARCP. You will be notified by SOAR when it is available to complete.

OOPT (Training)

If you are out of programme on a training placement which has been prospectively approved by the GMC and that will contribute to the competences of your programme, then please submit as for a normal ARCP, including relevant assessment documentation/evidence as per specialty-specific required evidence lists.  When you are OOPT, you will receive an outcome 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 in the normal way, you will not receive an outcome 8.
