Terms & Conditions

Overview

The Scottish Foundation School welcomes the opportunity to publicise courses, events or conferences and disseminate surveys which may be of interest to foundation doctors, foundation school staff or other stakeholders. These guidelines are intended to clarify what events, courses, conferences and surveys are acceptable/not acceptable for the Scottish Foundation School to advertise on its website and through its message boards to foundation trainees, trainers and FPD's..

Events/Conferences

For the Scottish Foundation School to willingly promote an event or conference, it must adhere to the following criteria:

  • Non-profit making
  • Have aims which are matched to the FP Curriculum outcomes
  • Organised by a recognised medical educational or medical professional body.
  • Open nationally to foundation doctors or educational faculty
  • UKFPO or NES recognised of being of good educational value
  • Crammer courses/examination course etc will not be advertised by the School

Training courses

For the Scottish Foundation School to willingly promote a training course, it must adhere to the following criteria:

  • Free to attend or small costs that the applicant is willing to pay.
  • Have aims which are matched to the FP Curriculum outcomes
  • Organised by a recognised medical educational or medical professional body
  • Open to all foundation doctors
  • Not related to examination or postgraduate courses
  • Adhere to the study leave guidelines

Allowing an event, conference or course to be advertised on its website does not imply endorsement by the Foundation School.

Surveys

The Scottish Foundation School will not disseminate surveys on behalf of other organisations. If there is a particular survey that the UKFPO wishes to endorse, it will first be discussed by the Foundation School Directors Committee and if agreed will be sent out separately. All Scottish surveys need to be approved via MDET and should be national with all the relevant research ethos/principles/ethical approval in place. No surveys will be sent out to foundation doctors whilst the GMC Trainee survey or the NES PAQ is live. The final decision to publicise a course or event, or disseminate a survey remains with the Scottish Foundation School.

All requests for surveys from individual/groups of foundation doctors or other trainees will be automatically denied.
