Pre-CCT Trainer Workshop

Target Audience

This entry-level workshop is aimed at final-year trainees, including GP trainees, who are within one year of their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) date at the time of the course. Eligibility will be checked before attendance.

The course is designed to prepare trainees to be “trainer-ready” at CCT and is suitable for those planning to undertake an educational role.

Please note: This course supports initial trainer recognition only and cannot be used as evidence for re-recognition.

 

Aims and objectives

  • Identify factors that contribute to an effective learning environment.
  • Apply key principles for delivering effective feedback.
  • Recognise sources of information that can help inform the Educational Supervisor’s Report.
  • Understand the fundamentals of Clinical and Educational Supervision.
  • Develop the knowledge and skills required to take on future trainer responsibilities.

 

Course Structure

The Pre-CCT Trainer Workshop consists of two parts:

Part 1: Online Learning Module

The e-learning module must be completed before attending the workshop and covers:

Background

  • Recognition of Trainer requirements
  • The Educational Governance Structure
  • The Public Services Delivery Scotland Quality Management Framework

Educational Activities

  • Departmental/practice induction
  • Educational meetings
  • On-the-job teaching
  • Assessment and feedback

There are tasks to complete from the online module. These will be used for discussion at the workshop to follow. 

Part 2: Online Workshop

The workshop focuses on:

  • The learning environment
  • Giving effective feedback
  • The Educational Supervisor’s Report

 

Costs

Course Fee: £50

Cancellations and Refunds: A full automated refund is available for cancellations made up to 4 weeks before the course. Within 4 weeks of the course date, refunds will only be considered in exceptional circumstances. Public Services Delivery Scotland reserves the right to remove anyone from a course, without the offer of a refund, if they are unable to fully participate.

The booking can be completed via the Course dates tab. Once you select to book, you have 30 minutes to complete the booking otherwise the space will be available to others.  

Technical guidance

Please download the Adobe Connect app by clicking on the link. Delegates will be asked to take part in a short audio-visual test with a course facilitator, in advance of the workshop.  Test dates and times will be made available by email.
