SMERC members have strong links and leadership roles with a number of external organisations. For example:
Members of SMERC work in close collaboration with the Medical Schools Council (MSC) both in delivering commissioned research but also in dissemination of this research via invited symposia at international meetings
Peter Johnson sits on GMC committees and was until recently a member of the National Association of Clinical Tutors (NACT) Council.
Peter and other SMERC members contribute to various Royal College and medical education and training bodies in membership or advisory positions (e.g., HEE Working Groups, Scottish Surgical Simulation Board (SSSB), Royal College of Surgeons (England)).
SMERC members advised on new questions for the GMC National Trainee Survey, and analysis of resulting data.
