Enhanced Educational Infrastructure

Work under this theme relates to Improving Health and Reducing Health Inequalities, and Remote and Rural Care.  (See Workforce also).

A project led by Fernandes (St Andrews/Dundee) looked at how best to ensure that health professionals understand health inequalities and have the communication and multidisciplinary skills to contribute to meeting health inequality challenges. They used real-life inspired simulations of clinical interactions, using volunteers from socially-excluded groups such as prisoners. Of interest is the wider influence of this project in terms of supporting Scottish Government policy for the re-integration of prisoners into society (by their participation in an educational training session within the wider community).
