Pre-CCT Trainer Workshop

Aims and objectives

The course, which is designed to enable final-year trainees to be “trainer-ready” at CCT, is suitable for all those who are about to undertake an educational role and covers the fundamentals of both Clinical and Educational Supervision.  

The course will be delivered in two parts - the 1st part is an eLearning module which is to be completed prior to the start of the course with the 2nd part being an online workshop.

Learning outcomes

The Trainer Workshop consists of an online module and a workshop. 

Online module

The online module, which must be completed before attending the workshop covers the following areas.

Background:

• Recognition of Trainer requirements  
• The Educational Governance Structure
• The NES Quality Management Framework

Educational Activities:

• Departmental/practice induction
• Educational meetings
• On-the-job teaching
• Assessment & feedback

 There are tasks to complete from the module. These will be used for discussion at the workshop to follow.

The workshop

The workshop will focus on the following areas:

• The learning environment
• Giving effective feedback
• The Educational Supervisor’s report

Target audience

This entry-level workshop is aimed at final year trainees only - including final year GP trainees (those within 1 year of CCT at the time of the course).

To be eligible to apply for the Pre-CCT Trainer Workshop, you must be within 1 year of your CCT date at the time of the course.  Your eligibility to attend will be checked prior to the course.

Cost

There is a charge of £50 for this course. 

Cancellations and refunds: Please note that full automated refund can be generated from the Portal for cancellations up to 4 weeks prior to the course.  Within 4 weeks of the course date, refunds may be given in exceptional circumstances only.

Technical guidance

The online workshop will be held on the Adobe Connect app.  By booking onto this workshop you are committing to download the Adobe Connect app (instructions will be given upon booking) and using Adobe Connect as instructed.  You will be expected to have your webcam visible during the course.  It is the delegate's responsibility to ensure they can access the workshop appropriately and have sufficient connection speed to participate.  NES reserves the right to remove anyone from a course if they are unable to fully participate.

Delegates should take part in a short audio-visual test with a course facilitator, in advance of the workshop.  Test dates and times will be made available upon booking.

Please note: We request that anyone attending these courses not be on call and ensure mobile phones & devices are switched off.
