Scotland Enhanced Induction Programme

The Scotland GP Enhanced Induction Programme supports the safe introduction of GPs who have qualified outside the UK and have no previous NHS GP experience. These doctors require a Certificate of Eligibility for GP Registration (CEGPR) as well as a licence to practise from the GMC before they can legally enter UK general practice.

1 year free membership of RCGP for GPs doing the Enhanced Induction Programme

GPs who qualified overseas and have never been a member of RCGP but hold CEGPR, who are on the Scotland Enhanced Induction Programme, will be entitled to one year Associate Membership for free. This includes all the benefits of Associate Membership except the hard copy of the BJGP, which will be available electronically. All you need is proof of registration on the Scotland Enhanced Induction Programme.

Is the Scotland GP Enhanced Induction Programme for you?

This programme  provides an opportunity for GPs from the European Union and International Medical Graduates with a Certificate Confirming Eligibility for GP Registration (CEGPR) to UK General Practice with no previous (post qualification) GP work experience in the NHS to become inducted in UK General Practice in preparation for working as a GP in Scotland.

 

 Am I eligible for the programme?

To be eligible for the programme applicants must:

  • Hold a Certificate Confirming Eligibility for GP Registration (CEGPR) to UK General Practice
  • Be on the GMC register (without conditions or undertakings except those relating solely to health matters) and on the GMC GP Specialty Register with a licence to practise.
  • Be committed to working in Scottish NHS General Practice
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • If you are a member of an EEA state evidence that you have knowledge of English which, in the interests of you and patients who you may provide medical services to, is necessary for performing primary medical services
  • If you come from out with the EEA, evidence of proficiency in English to the level of IELTS 7.5
  • You will not already have undertaken, commenced or been unsuccessful in similar programmes elsewhere in the UK or unsuccessful in the national I&R MCQ as part of an application elsewhere in the UK.
