The members of the British Inherited Metabolic Diseases Group (BIMDG) Guidelines Committee are currently updating the Metabolic Emergency guidelines. We are very keen to improve the format of the guidelines and make them more user-friendly! We are therefore seeking constructive feedback from staff who use these guidelines, especially those working in General/ Acute Paediatrics and Paediatric Emergency Medicine.
We have trialled two formats for two BIMDG guidelines (please find attached to this email). One of these (the MCADD guideline) is a relatively straightforward guideline, whereas the other (the Propionic Acidaemia guideline) has more complexity.
· Format A - compressed text and hyperlinks to different sections within the guideline.
vs.
· Format B - more spaced-out text, a flow chart and table of contents to help with guideline navigation and information-finding.
The clinical content of the two different versions of each guideline is essentially identical; the purpose of this survey is to understand which format would be more user-friendly in practice.
Your comments are entirely anonymous and will help to guide the update of these national BIMDG Guidelines.
