RCPE Bridging NHS care with curiosity: clinical research unplugged
Course/event description
Pursuing a successful research career as an NHS clinician is both rewarding and impactful, but it requires careful planning, time management, and institutional support.
This course will provide insights into developing a career in NHS research. Speaker's will consider, where does curiosity lie? — basic science, clinical trials, health services research, data science, and aims to cover;
· Building research skills Integrated Academic Training (IAT) pathway vs other pathways
· Protected Research Time: Apply for funding or negotiate with your NHS Trust for dedicated research sessions
· Clinical Academic Posts: Combine service with research (e.g., split posts funded by the university and NHS).
· Securing research funding
· Collaboration and networking
· Balance clinical and research responsibilities
· Consider roles such as Chief Investigator, and Clinical Research Lead
