GLADD is running an Early Career Doctors and Dentists Prize, inviting all registered doctors and dentists who have graduated with a primary medical or dental qualification on or after 1st July 2015 to submit a piece of writing in any arts and humanities format on the theme of ‘Intersecting Identities’. This competition provides entrants with a unique opportunity to explore an area of healthcare that is often less explored in undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, while showcasing their creative skills.
Each year, GLADD collaborates with a prestigious panel of guest judges from across healthcare and the arts; previous judges have included Adam Kay and Jacqueline Wilson. The 2025 judges will be announced soon.
All entrants will receive a free 1-year GLADD membership and a signed certificate. There are also cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Further details on the prize can be found on our website.
Entries can be of any length within reason. We suggest a limit of 2000 words, but recognise that this may not be suitable for all forms of entries. If a chosen format necessitates a higher word count, entrants may email secretary@gladd.co.uk for advice.
The deadline for submissions is 14th November 2025 at 12:00pm.
