Leadership and Management Programme (LaMP)

COVID-19 Information

Aims and objectives

Within a complex health and care system, healthcare professionals will need to draw on more than their clinical and technical skills alone.  The LaMP programme is an entry-level course and has been designed by NHS Education for Scotland (NES) to help and support individuals as they develop a range of personal and professional skills and behaviours which will contribute to their effectiveness as a clinician.

This programme consists of one full-day workshop. This workshop describes key areas of performance under 5 domains:

  • Demonstrating personal qualities
  • Working with others
  • Managing services
  • Improving services
  • Setting Direction

Target audience

There are currently three programmes, to suit different groups:

  1. Medical trainees who are in a specialty approaching CCT, GP trainees approaching CCT and Dental trainees
  2. Staff Grade, Associate Specialist & Specialty (SAS) Doctors & Dentists, Consultants and GPs
  3. Optometrists

NES reserves the right to prioritise those with an educational need for training

Cost

The cost for the one-day course is £100, which is payable at the point of booking.

For Medical and Dental trainees, study leave budgets have been "top-sliced" to cover the cost of the programme.

LaMP Non-Trainee Cancellations and Refunds: Please note that a full automated refund can be generated from the Portal for cancellations up to 4 weeks prior to the course.  Within 4 weeks of the course date, refunds may be given in exceptional circumstances only.  NES reserves the right to remove anyone from a course, without the offer of a refund, if they are unable to fully participate.
